The unique chemistry of these pens requires a simple, three-step activation to ensure the metallic and colored components flow correctly. Please follow these steps before every use:

1. Shake Well: With the cap securely on, shake the pen vigorously for 5-10 seconds to fully re-suspend the dense metallic pigment.   
2. Prime the Tip: Press the tip down gently onto a piece of scrap paper until the ink visibly flows into the nib (usually once or twice).   
3. Write Smoothly: Maintain a steady, consistent writing speed. Drawing too slowly can cause ink pooling, while drawing too quickly can result in a faint outline.

• Optimal Paper: For the sharpest, most vibrant outlines, use smooth, non-porous surfaces such as quality cardstock or sketch paper.
• Avoid Overlap: To maintain the dual-line effect, avoid drawing new lines that overlap previous lines, as the opaque metallic ink will cover and negate the spreading colored border.   
• Storage is Key: Always cap the pen immediately after use and store horizontally to prevent the water-based ink from drying out prematurely.
